Disaster has brought out the best in Ferrari. The Italian luxury sports carmaker announced it will organize a rare online auction to help raise funds for victims of the country’s two earthquakes that killed 23 people dead and left thousands homeless.
"Ferrari has decided to collect funds to help the families of victims of the quakes which hit the Emilia Romagna region with a big online auction open to bidders internationally," the famous automaker said in a statement.

Flags flew at half mast across Italy on Monday as a mark of respect for those who died in two earthquakes last month.
The Emilia Romagna region was struck by two tremors: one on May 20th and another on May 29th.

Discovering a neglected area of collecting is an exciting moment in an auctioneer's life. "Masterworks of Italian Photography 1945-1975 from the Collection of Paolo Morello," an auction at Christie's in South Kensington on June 12, is the result of one such discovery

Coach Cesare Prandelli said on Thursday that Italy would stop Mario Balotelli playing if he is subjected to racist abuse at Euro 2012.

Emilia-Romagna endured another night of fear between Thursday and Friday with aftershocks continuing following two big earthquakes over the last two weeks that have claimed 24 lives and left the northern region's economy on its knees.

American director, screenwriter and producer Michael Mann was on Friday named head of the jury of this year's Venice Film Festival.

Until 11 days ago, this district in northern Italy was renowned as the home of some of the world’s leading manufacturers of disposable medical devices used for dialysis, transfusion and surgery.

WASHINGTON — The Obama administration plans to arm Italy's small fleet of Reaper surveillance drones with Hellfire missiles and precision-guided bombs, a move that advocates say supports a staunch NATO ally in Afghanistan and that critics contend represents a potentially risky proliferation of advanced technology.

Manchester City striker Mario Balotelli has said he will "leave the pitch and go home" if there are racist incidents at the European Championships in Poland and Ukraine.
The 21-year-old said in an interview with magazine France Football: "Let’s see what happens at the Euro. I hope that there will not be a problem. Because I really can’t handle that."

ROME — Less than 10 days after an earthquake devastated the Emilia-Romagna region of northern Italy, a 5.8-magnitude tremor shook the area on Tuesday morning, killing at least 15 people, Italian news agencies reported. The latest earthquake destroyed more buildings and once again tested the fortitude of an already unsettled population.
