La Repubblica. Amalia Stolder-Giuliano, wife and mother of two notorious Camorra bosses in Naples died on March 30. For her funeral the clan staged a funeral worthy of a Queen. Italy's President made the remarks in a communique', which read "When I arrived in New York for a visit that also served to bring Italians in America together to celebrate the 150th anniversary of national unity, I learned with sadness of the death of Geraldine ferraro, a great American and Italo-American. A campaigner for equal rights, in 1984 Geraldine Ferraro became the first woman candidate in history for the Vice Presidency of the United States. Her example has inspired millions of women, in American and all over the world.
She has left an indelible mark and an enduring political legacy. Geraldine Ferraro will remain in the hearts of Americans and Italo-Americans."

Italy on Wednesday mourned Elizabeth Taylor who has died in a Los Angeles hospital at the age of 79.Franco Zeffirelli, who directed her with Richard Burton in The Taming of the Shrew in 1967, said: "We have lost a memorable figure, the kind of diva who does not exist any more".
