ANSA. A lost fresco portraying Napoleon's triumph at the Battle of Austerlitz has been rediscovered in Venice. The fresco by Venetian artist Giovanni Carlo Bevilacqua (1775-1849) was one of a series of celebratory works commissioned in Venice after the French military genius's victory over the mighty combined forces of Austria and Russia in 1805. ANSA. Funds arriving in the Abruzzo capital L'Aquila to help reconstruct the city after the devastating April 6 earthquake could become a target for the Mafia, L'Aquila public prosecutor Alfredo Rossini warned Tuesday. (Read the article)

ANSA. he port city of Genoa is to celebrate the treasures of the Mediterranean sea, with a Slow Food event devoted to fish. FORBES. As Italian carmaker Fiat and Chrysler race toward a union triggered by the Obama administration, one option under discussion is that Sergio Marchionne, currently Fiat's overlord, could become chief executive of Chrysler. According to a report in trade publication Automotive News, Chrysler and Fiat are also discussing a new management and board for the U.S. automaker under a proposed alliance. BOSTON GLOBE. During an Easter Mass at St. Leonard of Port Maurice Roman Catholic Church in the North End yesterday, worshipers opened their wallets to send some relief back to Italy to aid victims of the devastating earthquake that shook the central part of the country on April 6, killing nearly 300 people. Guardian. A 100-strong culture ministry team yesterday began a full inventory of churches, historic buildings and their contents in the Italian region of Abruzzo, after rescue workers called off their search for survivors of the devastating earthquake. (Read the article)

ANSA. A special shelter for lost and injured animals on Thursday joined the tent city that has sprung up around L'Aquila since Monday's earthquake. Volunteers from Rome's Animal Protection Department opened a tent to provide official medical treatment and shelter for animals left wounded or homeless during the quake and its aftermath (Read the article)

AP. Relatives of Italian seamen seized by pirates off Somalia are anxiously awaiting word of the fate of their loved ones. The 16-member crew of the Italian-flagged Buccaneer tug was seized Saturday in the pirate-infested Gulf of Aden. Ten of the 16 crew members are Italian, including the commander, Mario Iarlori.
