IAWA Features: Lawyers who Moonlight as Mystery Novelists

The Italian American Writers Association is celebrating its 25th Anniversary. Since 1991, IAWA has given voice to writers through its literary series every 2nd Saturday of the month. Readings begin with an Open Mic: IAWA-East is held even months at Sidewalk Café and IAWA-West continues at Cornelia Street Café on odd months. Visit and join us at iawa.net


This month's IAWA [2]-East takes place at Sidewalk Cafe NYC [3] welcomes two authors who are lawyers by day and by night write mystery and legal thrillers, finding inspiration in their everyday lives. The reading kicks off with an Open Mic, arrive early to sign up; join us online too iawa.net

 Stephanie Laterza
[4] is the author of the legal thriller, The Boulevard Trial (March 2015).  Her short stories have been published in Writing Raw, Literary Mama and Akashic Books' Terrible Twosdays series. Her poetry has appeared in the Newtown Literary Journal, San Francisco Peace and Hope, Literary Mama and Meniscus Magazine. Her background as an attorney parallels her passion for creative writing.
 
Tony Iovino [5] is the author of the novel Notary Public Enemy (Diversion Press, 2011) a murder mystery set on Long Island, and has had several poems and essays published over the years. By day, he is the Supervisor of Community Services for the Oceanside Library.  He is also the founder and host of the Summer Gazebo Readings [5], an acclaimed outdoor series featuring readings by distinguished poets and authors on Mondays in June, July & August in Oceanside, NY. He is currently looking for sponsors for the 2016 series.
